The 26th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) 2023 witnessed a remarkable display of technological innovation as the Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and S & T, Government of Karnataka, proudly unveiled 35 groundbreaking products and solutions developed by startups. The second edition of the Startup Product Launch, held at the Startup Innovation Zones, showcased the state’s commitment to fostering a diverse range of industries and nurturing entrepreneurial talent.
Sector-Agnostic Innovation for a Dynamic Ecosystem
The products and solutions unveiled at the BTS 2023 spanned a multitude of sectors, showcasing Karnataka’s sector-agnostic approach. From IT/ITeS, Agri-Tech, and Med-Tech to Clean-Tech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Tech, Blockchain, IoT, Cybersecurity, Environment Tech, AVGC, and ESDM, the state’s startup ecosystem demonstrated its versatility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of various industries.
Diverse Offerings Reflecting Karnataka’s Technological Prowess
The array of innovative solutions included electronic devices integrating AI and IoT, advancements in automotive manufacturing, innovations in footwear and accessories, technologies in avionics & defense, effluent air treatment solutions, apps to prevent fraudulent transactions, fabric authentication tools, Animations & Comics, and Deep Tech-based platforms for quality assessment. This diversity highlighted the broad scope and potential impact of startups emerging from Karnataka.
Incubator Support and Government Backing Propel Startup Success
A significant number of the showcased startups flourished within Government of Karnataka-supported incubators, such as K-tech Innovation Hubs, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and Technology Business Incubators (TBIs). These initiatives, anchored by esteemed institutions like C-CAMP, NASSCOM, Jain Incubation Centre, Deshpande Startups, and CoE – Cybersecurity, underscored the crucial role incubators play in nurturing and facilitating the growth of innovative ventures.
Several startups featured in the showcase received financial grant support through the Government’s Idea2PoC/ELEVATE Grant-in-aid seed funding program. This financial backing highlighted the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources for startups to thrive and make a significant impact in their respective industries.
Diversity and Inclusion at the Forefront
Out of the 35 startups, a notable 09 are women-led, emphasizing the inclusive and diverse nature of Karnataka’s startup ecosystem. The recognition of women-led startups underscored the state’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the entrepreneurial landscape, empowering and encouraging women to actively participate in the technological and business sectors.
Dignitaries Acknowledge Karnataka’s Technological Milestones
The products were officially launched in the distinguished presence of Shri Priyank Kharge, the Hon’ble Minister for Electronics, IT & BT, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, and Shri Prashanth Prakash, Chairman, Vision Group for Startups, Government of Karnataka. Their presence added credibility to the showcased products and highlighted the government’s active involvement and support in promoting innovation within the state.
