The Bharat Mandapam convention centre, previously the hub for the G20 Summit this past September, was abuzz over the last three days. The venue played host to the seventh India Mobile Congress (IMC), inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A highlight of the congress was the launch of 100 cutting-edge 5G labs in association with India’s elite engineering colleges, underlining the country’s forward momentum in the realm of technology.
During his keynote, PM Modi stressed the swift pace of technological advancement, noting that the “future” many talk about is already unfolding in real-time. He showcased the remarkable growth of India’s startup scene, with the nation now proudly standing among the top three globally in this arena. Further emphasizing this accomplishment, Modi revealed that the country currently houses over a hundred thousand startups.
Reflecting on technological milestones, the Prime Minister reminisced about the country’s foray into 5G technology, which he had launched a year ago. The rapid embrace of this technology has led to the installation of around 500,000 5G base stations across the nation in just a year.
IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also delivered a poignant message, terming telecom as the vital ‘gateway’ to the ambitious Digital India initiative. Highlighting India’s growing stature, Vaishnaw stated that the nation now exports telecom equipment to over 70 countries worldwide. Adding another feather to India’s cap, he announced that the forthcoming World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly would take place in New Delhi.
Business leaders such as Akash Ambani of Reliance Jio, Sunil Bharti Mittal from Bharti Enterprises, and Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla Group also graced the event with their insights.
In summary, the India Mobile Congress not only showcased technological progress but also solidified India’s position as a rising star in the global tech and entrepreneurial stage. With its ever-evolving startup ecosystem, advanced tech infrastructure, and visionary leaders, the nation’s future appears brighter than ever.
