There are many Indian start-ups that are carving their success stories and giving a tough competition to its global counterparts. From high level acquisitions, mergers and funding, these start-ups have everything which helps them in having a competitive edge over its competitors. Here is a list of few of such growing start-ups.
- Freshdesk: Founded in 2011, Freshdesk has acquired and merged many start-ups such as 1Click, Frilp, Hotline, Frambench and Airwoot. Recently, it has completed its sixth acquisition by acquiring Chatimity, a Bangalore based start-up working in the field of social chats. The team of Chatimity will assist Freshdesk in upgrading and improving its chat capabilities. Chatimity was earlier incubated at Global Incubation Services and was also a part of the Google Start-up Launchpad. Founded in May 2011 by former Google Music Search employees, Tarkeshwar Thakur and Aravind Murthy, Chatimity helps its users in adding a chat box service to their respective app by downloading and integrating Chatimity’s software development kit. Its chat box helps users in having real conversations through natural language processing, Al markup language and state machines.
- MakeMyTrip: Recently, MakeMyTrip and Ibibo which are travel booking portals have merged in stock transaction. The details of the amount merged remains undisclosed though the sources from ET say that it could range between US$8 billion to US$2 billion. MakeMyTrip will work in the field of retaining its branding and after transaction; the operations of Ibibo will be carried under MakeMyTrip.
- BabyChakra: It is a unique start up launched in February 2015 that gives young parents and parents to be a social platform for getting information on conception, pregnancy, birth, early childhood from the childcare and parenting experts. They can even discuss their problems and apprehensions with their fellow users. The founder and CEO of this start-up, Naiyya Saggi says that since most of the young couples today live in nuclear families with no support and guidance, this start-up guides the young parents at every step. BabyChakra has recently acquired a series A funding from RoundGlass, a Seattle based health and wellness firm. It aims to use this funding in hiring, product development and creating localised content.
