The Dubai Chambers, under the astute leadership of its President and CEO, Mohammad Ali bin Rashed Lootah, is optimistic about strengthening ties with India, especially in the arena of tech startups. Lootah has articulated a grand vision: leveraging Indian tech startups‘ prowess to enhance the digital sector’s footprint in the UAE’s non-oil GDP, aspiring for a leap to 20% within the next decade.
As global economic paradigms shift, the emphasis on startup ecosystems becomes paramount. The UAE, historically anchored by its oil sector, seeks to diversify its economic pillars, with the digital economy emerging as a promising frontier. In this pursuit, India, known for its vibrant tech startup environment, is being viewed as a significant collaborator.
Lootah elaborated on India’s potential, saying, “India’s digital arena is not confined to specific sectors. We see a vast network of tech sectors, each poised to contribute distinctively to Dubai’s GDP.” This broad-spectrum approach suggests that the Dubai Chambers, under Lootah’s guidance, is open to embracing diverse opportunities presented by the Indian tech landscape.
Dubai’s allure for startups is not merely its majestic skyline or opulence. Beneath this lies a structured ecosystem ripe for nurturing innovation. Lootah emphasized, “Dubai’s strength is its unparalleled connectivity and resources tailored for startups, making it a hub for networking, mentorship, funding, and scalability.” He also pointed out that Dubai’s geographical position makes it a strategic bridge between Eastern and Western markets.
The strategy adopted by the Dubai Chambers is characterized by its inclusivity. Instead of fixating on specific sectors, there’s a drive to foster diversity, ensuring that varied tech segments find their footing in the UAE.
These insights were shared against the backdrop of the Expand North Star event, a segment of GITEX Global, organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Supported by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, this event at Dubai Harbour from October 15 to 18 epitomizes Dubai’s commitment to embracing digital innovations.
Lootah’s vision paints a compelling picture of the future, hinting at a potent India-UAE partnership in the tech domain. As this collaboration unfolds, the global digital landscape awaits transformative innovations.
