817 startups have eagerly enrolled for the state government’s flagship startup support initiative, Elevate 2023. The scheme, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, has garnered significant attention, with the government allocating a substantial Rs 20 crore to provide financial aid to 100 selected startups.
Elevate 2023, spearheaded by Karnataka’s IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, has become a focal point for entrepreneurs seeking comprehensive assistance to propel their ventures to new heights. The overwhelming response underscores Karnataka’s status as the most favorable environment for startup growth and innovation.
Minister Kharge, expressing his enthusiasm, stated, “817 startups have enrolled for Elevate 2023, highlighting Karnataka’s status as the most favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. The Karnataka government is committed to supporting startups’ growth by providing comprehensive assistance in every possible manner.”
The government’s support package includes a grant-in-aid of up to Rs 50 lakh each, incubation support, mentoring by industry experts, a booster kit, incentives, and connections with venture capitalists. This multi-faceted approach aims to provide startups with the necessary resources to scale up their products or solutions.
Karnataka IT Secretary Ekroop Caur shared insights into the program, stating, “We have received an overwhelming response from startups for the Elevate program. The top pitches will be selected for government-aided support to scale up their product or solution to the next level.”
Elevate Karnataka, launched in 2015, has a proven track record of nurturing the startup ecosystem in the state. With nearly Rs 197 crore disbursed to approximately 874 startups, the program has been instrumental in supporting ventures across diverse sectors, including IT, Electronic System Design Manufacturing, Animation Visual Gaming & Comics, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, and Life Sciences.
In a move towards inclusive development, the Karnataka government, through Elevate Unnati, is also encouraging startups from marginalized communities, specifically from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). This initiative aims to bridge the gap by providing additional support and opportunities for entrepreneurs from these communities.
Elevate goes beyond providing financial aid; it aspires to create a comprehensive entrepreneurship platform for startups. Access to mentors, networking opportunities, funds, idea validation, and state-of-the-art incubation facilities are part of the program, creating an environment conducive to innovation and growth.
Officials in the IT department highlighted that Elevate plays a pivotal role as a catalyst for the development of startups across various sectors. By offering significant opportunities for selected startups to receive support, mentorship, and resources, the program aims to accelerate their growth trajectory.
As the selected startups gear up to scale new heights, Elevate continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Karnataka’s startup landscape and contributing to the state’s position as a hub for innovation and economic growth. The scheme not only provides a lifeline for individual startups but also contributes to the overall vibrancy and dynamism of the startup ecosystem in Karnataka.
