Meesho, a leading player in the Indian ecommerce market, has unveiled its latest venture: Valmo, a cutting-edge logistics vertical. With Valmo, Meesho aims to redefine the landscape of ecommerce logistics, offering sellers a streamlined and cost-effective solution for shipping their products to customers.
Under the Valmo platform, Meesho acts as a facilitator, bringing together various logistics providers to cater to its extensive network of sellers. By leveraging technology and providing essential support services, Meesho empowers small entrepreneurs to efficiently manage logistics operations while focusing on their core business activities.
Unlike traditional ecommerce logistics models, Meesho’s Valmo does not invest in physical assets like trucks and warehouses. Instead, it collaborates with existing logistics providers, ensuring optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency. This unique approach enables Meesho to offer competitive pricing, with logistics costs under Valmo being approximately 5% lower than those offered by third-party logistics firms.
Sourabh Pandey, Chief Experience Officer for Fulfillment & Experience at Meesho, emphasized that Valmo operates on a collaborative basis, inviting third-party logistics partners to join its network. By doing so, Meesho aims to create a symbiotic relationship where all parties benefit from increased efficiency and resource sharing.
Currently, Valmo accounts for a significant portion of Meesho’s order volume, with plans to double its share within the next year. Meesho’s workforce comprises a diverse mix of small businesses and large firms, each playing a crucial role in the logistics ecosystem. While large firms handle complex operations like warehousing and sorting, small entrepreneurs manage first-mile, last-mile, and long-haul logistics, contributing to Meesho’s agile and efficient logistics network.
Meesho’s launch of Valmo represents a significant milestone in the evolution of ecommerce logistics in India. By embracing innovation and collaboration, Meesho aims to empower sellers, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency in ecommerce fulfillment, setting a new standard for the industry.
